THE CATEGORY OF FREEDOM IN HEGEL’S «PHENOMENOLOGY OF SPIRIT»

Abstract
This article analyzes Hegel’s understanding of freedom based on the sections of The Phenomenology of Spirit devoted to the study of sensory consciousness, reason, self-awareness, and intellect. Building on Hegel’s ideas about the limitations of freedom in sensory experience, its formation in self-awareness, and the realization of freedom through alienation, action, and the mutual movement of thinking subjects, it extrapolates his views to contemporary social conflict.
