THEORETICAL BASIS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN PRESCHOOL CHILDREN IN THE MOTHER – CHILD DYAD

Abstract
The article presents the results of a theoretical analysis of the development of emotional intelligence (EI) in preschool children within the mother – child dyad. The key role of the mother as the «primary emotional conductor» is substantiated. Psychological prerequisites for the development of EI in early, middle, and senior preschool age are systematized. Based on the analysis of biological, social factors, and leading psychological theories («emotional mediation», attunement, «mindsight», attachment and secure base, social learning, and empathy development) within the biopsychosocial approach, the mechanisms of maternal influence on the development of EI are revealed. It is substantiated that an authoritative parenting style is the most favorable for the formation of EI. Practical recommendations for mothers on the development of EI components in children, differentiated for each age stage of preschool childhood, have been developed.
