Abstract

This article discusses the phenomenon of «envy» in the context of social representations, presents the results of a cross-cultural study of the structure and content of social representations of envy that exist in the minds of men and women living in the Republic of Belarus and the Peopleʼs Republic of China. A comparative analysis of social representations of envy showed that their content contains common and specific factors. Common factors indicate a unity of understanding, and specific factors indicate a difference in representations of envy: they are largely unique and individual for each person.
