Abstract

The article describes the set expressions used in the works by Konstantin Tarasov and analyzes two important functions of the selected linguistic units: the function of figurative concretization of reality and the generalizing, generative function. Each of them conveys the distinctiveness of the writer’s literary text and reflects the author’s methods of representing a message about the real world. Figurative concretization of reality is manifested primarily through the use of phraseological units and proverbs, whose formation is based on the metaphorization of free word combinations or sentences. The generalized meaning is vividly conveyed by a large number of proverbs, both with reinterpreted components and with component words retaining their direct meaning.
