SEMANTIC SPECIFICITY OF CONCEPTS AND ARCHETYPES OF NATIONAL BEING IN THE PLAY «HARPIES» BY Y. STANKEVICH

Abstract

The mythological component, actualized by the author through a number ofunits (harpies, Phineus, Janus), is combined with historical realities (partisan movement, forest shelters, radio operators, struggle for independence, etc.) and is enriched by the montage of positive and negative connotations of well-known concepts and, more broadly, archetypes (forest, home, homeland, etc.). The writer emphasizes the importance of the past of Belarus in defining its future in a meta-literary way, using postmodernist techniques of irony, disruption of time and space, intertextuality, etc. The pessimistic conclusion of the main plot is overcome at the end of the work through a prayer for better things to come.
