Abstract

The article describes the onomastics of Belarusian studies publications devoted to the creative legacy of Simeon Polotsky in linguistic and cultural aspects. The cultural and historical background and extralinguistic factors that influenced the formation of the names of the works are characterized. The culturally determined connotations accompanying personal names of the era of the dominance of canonical onyms are revealed. The cultural and historical specifics of surnames and patronyms are analyzed. The article describes the pragmatic significance of toponyms, ecclesionyms, and biblionyms, which add a set of accumulated historical, ethnographic, geographical, and connotative information to a popular science work and therefore participate in the for-mation of the chronotope of the work. Criteria have been established that identify the specifics of the selection of onyms in educational works on Belarusian studies.
