ILLUSTRATION OF SOCIAL-POLITICAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIO-CULTURAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE WESTERN REGIONS OF THE BSSR IN SEPTEMBER 1939 – JUNE 1941 IN HISTORY TEXTBOOKS FOR STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITIES OF BELARUS

Abstract
The article highlights the issues of forming ideas about the events in the western regions of Belarus during September 1939 – June 1941 in textbooks for higher educational institutions of the BSSR and the Republic of Belarus. It is noted that during the Soviet period, special importance was attached to the leading role of the Communist Party, which ensured the successful implementation of socialist transformations. The main attention was focused on covering only successes and achievements. In the textbooks published in the Republic of Belarus, especially recommended for students of history faculties, along with positive moments, repressions, the ban by the Soviet government of all political parties, except the communist, and the deportation policy of the Soviet leadership in relation to the population of the territories of the western regions of Belarus were reflected. Common to textbooks published in the BSSR and the Republic of Belarus is the conclusion that the inclusion of Western Belarus into the USSR and the BSSR was historically necessary and justified. Belarus for the first time in history became a territorially integral state, in which the process of territorial and ethnographic consolidation of the Belarusian nation was completed.
