POPULATION DISTRIBUTION FEATURES AS A LOCAL FACTOR OF POTENTIAL AN-THROPOGENIC LOAD ON SURFACE WATERS IN THE SOUTHWEST OF THE BREST REGION

Abstract
The features of population distribution in the southwest of the Brest region are considered. The allocation of the southwestern part as a separate subregion of regional hydrographic studies of the Brest region (along with its northwestern, central, northeastern and southeastern parts) is justified. The model is described and the results of the implementation of the author's concept of residential-hydrographic analysis of the distribution of rural settlements in the subregion are presented. Modern differences in the number, area and density of population in populated areas were identified. The results of grouping rural settlements by density (very low, low, medium, high and very high density) and population size (farmstead, semi-farm, small-sized, small, medium-small, medium, big, large, largest, super-large) are presented. The geographic features of individual groups of settlements with the greatest potential impact on surface waters and their hydrographic status are described. The directions for using the obtained results in the course of further modeling of the processes of formation of surface water quality for the purposes of their rational use and protection at the local and subregional levels are proposed.
